This is the twenty second piece in my “Deadhead” series. My process begins with a collection of deadheaded flowers from our prosperous rose garden (or in this case our peony bushes) at our home in SW Denver. My wife, Kathy, then photographs them and uploads the the pictures to be digitized. I work with the images in a photo enhancement software to adjust placement, values, shadows, contrast, and focus and compose a working draft. The final artwork is created with oil paint in my studio (which, at times, is located in the Great Room of our home) on either panel or canvas with brush and/or palette knife.
