When my wife, Kathy, and I first married, we travelled quite a bit. Coming from Colorado, I have always admired trees. We photographed trees wherever we went. I then upload the pictures to be digitized. I work with the images in a photo enhancement software to adjust placement, values, shadows, contrast, and focus and compose a working draft. The final artwork is created with oil paint in my studio (which, at the time was our garage) on either panel or canvas with brush and/or palette knife. This particular tree is from Settlers’ Park just outside of Pittsburgh, PA. Kathy’s parents are from that area and spent many holidays and summer picnics there. My mother-in-law, Barbara, is the proud owner of the original piece.
